Kristi House Partner Event: Film Screening of BOYS Documentary

Sex trafficking is a worldwide epidemic, a tragedy that affects women, men and children. While the movement to stop sex trafficking has brought large awareness to female victims of trafficking, males have largely been overlooked and underserved. Over 5 years ago, Restore One Co-Founders Chris & Anna Smith joined forces with Kartal Peel, Film Director, to travel across the country to film the BOYS Documentary Through interviews with service care providers, male survivors and those in the field of Abolition, the BOYS Documentary brings validity to the truth that males are victims of sex trafficking in America. It puts faces and real-life stories on this difficult and growing problem.

This Spring, we are taking the film on the road. We aim to raise awareness of this issue and create dialogue around the identification of male sex trafficking and restoration of those victimized. This film provides an opportunity to gather key community stakeholders, nonprofit organizations and the general public around this important issue with the ultimate goal of seeing more boys identified and helped.

Our South, FL film screening is being held in partnership with Ark of Freedom Alliance.

Restore One is a faith-based nonprofit that is committed to developing residential recovery programs, free of cost, for U.S. boys who are survivors of domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST). Restore One has emerged as a national leader regarding male sex trafficking over the past five years. Our residential program, The Anchor House, is designed to meet the psychological, physical and sociological needs of sexually exploited boys ages 12-18. It is one of the few places in the country that serves this population. The Anchor House opened late last year.

Ark of Freedom Alliance is a 501c3 human rights organization headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that works to prevent the trafficking of marginalized children and adults, while empowering those affected by harnessing the power of collective impact. Ark of Freedom Alliance plays a unique role in the war on human trafficking. We collaborate across the private, faith, and public sectors to address the systemic inequities that create and sustain the human trafficking epidemic, while addressing the gaps in prevention and treatment for marginalized male and LGBTQ+ victims of human trafficking and exploitation.

Thank you for helping us bring hope, freedom, and awareness to this difficult and complex problem.

We hope to see you there!
