Child Safety Matters

Child Safety Matters

Kristi House is proud to offer MBF Child Safety Matters™ – a comprehensive, research-based, prevention education program that educates and empowers children and adults with information and strategies to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to bullying, cyberbullying, all types of abuse, online abuse, and other digital dangers. We are pleased to have the support of Florida Blue Foundation to provide Child Safety Matters to local students (elementary, middle and high-school) in Miami-Dade County.

Education is essential to eradication. With the National Child Traumatic Stress Network stating that one out of every four children attending school has been, or will be, exposed to a traumatic event, prevention education is needed now more than ever before. Research shows that schools are the best place to implement prevention programs, and polyvictimization research supports using a comprehensive program with universal rules and strategies, applicable to all types of victimization, including child sexual abuse. Kristi House thanks the Monique Burr Foundation for their development and support of this vital program.

As facilitators, Kristi House provides age and developmentally appropriate lessons to each classroom, typically in two 45-minute sessions, covering the following topics:

  • Safety awareness
  • Shared responsibility for safety
  • Safe Adults
  • Types of abuse
  • Red Flags
  • Safety Rules
  • Bullying
  • Cyberbullying
  • Digital abuse
  • Digital safety tips
  • Digital citizenship
  • Safety Rules
