Because a medical exam for sexual abuse can be extremely traumatic
for a child, we have designed and furnished a
special exam room complete with all necessary
medical supplies geared to a child's special needs.
The pilot project was developed with the Child
Protection Team and the City of Miami Police Department
in March 2001. Only non-acute medical examinations
are conducted at the Orlowitz Lee Child Advocacy
Center. Acute cases are seen at the Rape Treatment
Center near the Jackson Medical Complex. |
