Kristi House training can help you meet the requirements of the Florida Department of Children and Families for serving child victims of sexual exploitation (See DCF memo). Kristi House offers a 3-hour basic CSEC 101 training and, for specialized training, we offer the course, Childhood Traumatic Stress.
With support from the U.S. Department of Justice, Kristi House educators have trained more than 13,000 service providers and other professionals in more than 250 agencies and organizations in South Florida and nationwide in addressing CSEC. We have provided sessions at several dozen major conferences throughout the country and abroad, and research findings about Project GOLD have been published in several scholarly journals. Through our Project GOLD program, we have worked directly with CSEC survivors since 2007.

CSEC Community Intervention Program (3-day intensive program that trains providers to be within-agency trainers)
This three-day training was developed with a U.S. Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention grant by U.S. leading organizations addressing the issue of CSEC—GEMS, Polaris Project, Salvation Army and Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition. It is a “Train the Trainer” model, which allows an entire agency or community to come together around this issue and create sustainability when we leave because they will then have their own trainers. The State of Florida through the Department of Children and Families has approved this training to begin implementation of the Florida Safe Harbor Act with the Project GOLD shelter serving as the testbed and model. Kristi House specialists have delivered it to four Florida communities, and other communities outside of Florida.
Childhood Trauma Training for Non-clinicians
3-hour training for those working around and with children who have suffered trauma but not delivering counseling or mental health services.
Child traumatic stress refers to the physical and emotional responses of a child to events that threaten the life of the child or of someone critically important to the child. Students preparing to become social workers, teachers, counselors and or plan to work with children in other ways are invited to participate in this informative, interactive education program about trauma-informed care and what it means for the health and well-being of children. This educational program was developed and tested in collaboration with FIU College of Education and based on materials from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. As a result of this training:
- Participants will understand the impact of trauma on the development and behavior of children and their adult caregivers.
- Participants will articulate trauma-informed intervention strategies.
- Participants will address the safety and well-being of the children they serve.
